Be sure when you do buy your horse that you obtain all the veterinary records. Talk to your vet about which vaccines to give, when to give it. If you don't faint at the sight of needles, ask your vet to teach you to give injections. You will save a lot of money that way.

If you don't have a horse trailer, your vet will come to you. It's called a "Farm Call." For my vet just to reach my front gate and not even see my horse, it is $45.00 Anything else is extra.

You will want to talk to your vet about wormers and line up a farrier to learn about hoof care as well. You will also need to learn about feeding (see Horse Nutrition).
