Although the vet and the farrier were discouraged by all the crashing and burning this horse was doing. They remained somewhat optimistic because no rotation of the coffin bone had been noted (what an apt description of that bone!) All that changed one day...

I haven’t had a chance to write in this, Racer's coffin bone has rotated in both his front feet. I am so bummed, but I am trying to keep a positive attitude. In what some people would call a desperated attempt on my part, I have reached out to the animal communicator who helped me in the past. I am waiting to hear back from her to see if she will take him on.
Clint goes to see Dr. Mike and look at the x-rays, then he is coming over to take out the toes and put special shoes on him. Once he has been shod, I am trailering him to the vet clinic so he can be tested for Cushings Disease. He will stay there for two days. I only hope that the rotation will quit and he won’t be one of those horses whose bone slides all the way down through his foot.
He is back on Bute 2 grams a day- and I am still giving him MSM and GSE and his Thyrol L- I am so incredibly sad for him and I try not to be because I know he picks it up and it makes him antsy. He is in so much pain that I have had to put Trav completely away from him for now. His buddy is puzzled as to why Racer won't pick on him anymore. How can I explain founder to a horse, when no one can explain it to me? |
