Confining Racer even for his own good, turned out to be the wrong thing to do. He doesn't like confinement, and he let me know this in a very mustang- way-
Jan 17th-
Stall confinement is not for my boy. When I went in to feed tonight, he turned his rump on me and threatened me! He hasn’t done that since he was a baby! I kicked him square and told him to knock it off! He turned around and just stared at me. I put his hay into the feeder, and as I turned to go, he reached over and bit me! I lost it, and grabbed his head (which he had flung way high) and finally got it, and I squeezed his nose and shouted at him. I told him that I didn’t care if he was sick, I was doing the best I could under the circumstances and he better understand that! I told him that biting me was unacceptable and he best knock it off! Then I backed away, examined the bite, and waited to cool out.
I approached him again and this time I just told him I was sorry he was hurting. We became friends again, but I did leave him in the stall for about two hours before releasing him. The good news is he is walking again. (Big sigh of relief) I went in and placed a call to the animal communicator and asked her to put him up higher on her list and call me when she could. Last time I looked, he was laying down under the trees. |
