Just when everyone was getting ready to breathe a sigh of relief, the ground slipped right out from under all of us......Racer crashed- big time!

Feb. 4, 2004

Racer crashed a few hours ago. I was out in the pasture and when I called him, there went his violent head shaking, indicating "NO MOM PAIN!"  I walked out to him and gently grabbed his mane. He limped his way to the barn, favoring his right leg big time.

I stalled him for a few hours and gave him more bute, he had been down to one gram a day. I also called the vet. Dr. Mike says he is really puzzled by all of this and has asked all his colleagues to help with this. I asked again about the glucose test and he said that for right now he wouldn't do it simply because the horse has to be at a level of rest and not in pain and Racer keeps spiraling up and down into the intense pain threshold. He wants to come over and do more x-rays in a few days......sigh......

I'm tapped out I don't know what to do anymore.
