August 8th

Racer was sedated and reverse shoes were placed on him. That was about a week ago and since then I have observed him trying to trot several times. It is not a good trot, a bit of a lumbering, stumble trot probably brought about not only by his sore feet, but the fact that the shoes are on backwards and that affects his balance. I was told to keep him confined, but this stubborn mustang has his own ideas and broke some heavy-duty chains to gain his freedom. So now he is only confined at night, and he seems easier with that.

Both the horses now have fly sheets and i am looking at Cashel's bug armour for Racer. It looks like just the thing to keep the flies off his chest and belly. I will be ordering it this week. He is going to look funny, but right now he looks pathethic with all the hair and skin missing on his chest, belly and sheath. The vet will not give him any steroids and he has such an adverse reaction to chemical sprays that this strange garb I found is really the only sane answer in this insanity. www.cashelcompany.com
